The Military Technological College celebrated yesterday evening the graduation of its ninth cohort of students holding bachelor’s degrees, higher diplomas, and diplomas. The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Zaabi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence.
The ceremony commenced with recitations from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a speech delivered by Air Commodore (Engineer) Mohammed bin Aziz Al-Siabi, Commandant of the Military Technological College, in which he welcomed the attendees and affirmed the College’s steady progress in consolidating its position among military and technical education institutions. He noted that the College has become a vital contributor to preparing qualified cadres and a key pillar in achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. He also highlighted several major achievements, including securing academic accreditation from the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education, introducing master's programmes within its academic offerings, admitting the first intake of civilian students, strengthening academic and research partnerships, and hosting a number of international scientific conferences and symposiums.
Professor Graham Galbraith, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom, also delivered a speech in which he expressed the University’s pride in its distinguished academic partnership with the Military Technological College, a partnership that has contributed to delivering numerous academic programmes and scientific achievements. He commended the quality of the College’s academic outputs and extended his congratulations to the graduating students.
A speech on behalf of the graduates was then delivered by one of the graduating students, who expressed their pride and gratitude in belonging to the College, acknowledging the knowledge, skills, and capabilities they gained, which enabled them to reach this accomplished academic level and prepare them to serve the nation under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander. He reaffirmed their commitment to the College’s motto, “Knowledge and Hard Work,” as a guiding principle in their professional journey, and extended thanks to the Board of Directors and the academic staff.
The patron of the event then honoured the top-performing graduates in both academic and military streams, and presented bachelor’s degree certificates to the graduating students.
The ceremony included a video presentation highlighting the various academic specialisations offered by the Military Technological College, its key achievements, its development milestones, its national academic, scientific, and research roles in supporting the Sultan’s Armed Forces, security services, and civil institutions, as well as the major events and activities undertaken by the College throughout the year.
The graduates later recited the College anthem, performed the Oath of Allegiance, and chanted three cheers for His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander. Air Commodore (Engineer) Mohammed bin Aziz Al-Siabi, Commandant of the Military Technological College, then presented graduation certificates to graduates of the higher diploma and diploma programmes in engineering specialisations.
The ceremony was attended by commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces and military and security services, a number of Their Excellencies, university and college presidents, senior officers, officers, parents of the graduates, and a gathering of guests.
