NDC Concluded Strategic Exercise

​​A strategic exercise was concluded at the National Defence College (NDC). The exercise was carried out by the members of the first batch during the period 08 – 19 June 2014. This exercise is the culmination of the year-long studies involving strategic security and using the latest training techniques at the national, regional and international levels. The exercise was under the auspices of HE Dr. Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry, with attendance of Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence, number of commanders and senior officers. The chief guest was briefed on the various stages of the exercise by the Guidance Authority. Subsequently, the participants clarified the methods used during the stages involving leadership and strategic analysis which primarily relay on the capacities of participants and their familiarity with the studies and strategic issues related to the concepts of national security. 

Strategic Exercise

The exercise was attended by Mohammed bin Nasser al Rasbi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence, Rear Admiral Abdullah Bin Khamis al Raisi, Commander of Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), Major General Khalifa Bin Abdullah al Junaibi, Commander of the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), Major General A'mir bin Salim bin Mubarak al Amri, Commander of the Sultan Special Forces (SSF), Major General Ghusson bin Hilal al Alawi, Assistant Head of Internal Security Services for Operations (ISS), Mr. Ali bin Ibrahim al Raisi, the Chief Executive of the Oman Charitable Organization.

The task, message and goals of the college are to prepare and rehabilitate a generation of military, civilian leaders and senior officials, holding knowledge and skills that will enable them to take up strategic leadership positions, and develop their abilities in a scientific manner based on effective dialogue and interactive discussion. Qualified civilian and military experts are selected as members in the Guidance Authority in order to contribute immensely with their comprehensive scientific and academic knowledge.

On this occasion, HE Dr. Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry, the chief guest stated,"I am deeply honoured to be here today. The exercise simulates reality and creates a suitable environment for participants in order to qualify them for encountering various future circumstances as well as refine their personal talents. Finally, I would like to thank all participants for their commitment, NDC commandant, Guidance Authority, civilian and military consultants". Major General Salim bin Musallam bin Ali Qatan, Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC) said, "This exercise is the culmination of long academic studies, the exercise simulates real events took place in the past and might come in the future. The exercise goals were accomplished - thanks to Allah – under the supervision of counselors and consultants in various strategic fields who hailed the intellectual level of participants as well as administrative and organizational level." Brigadier Awadh bin Mohammed al Meshikhi, NDC Assistant Commandant, Exercise Deputy Director, also stated, "The strategic exercise is the last phase in the NDC course. The exercise stages reflected different national, regional and international environments, as well as participants' analysis abilities where they encountered various obstacles and challenges concerned with regional and international issues."
